The NDTF represents trainers of obedience dogs, scent detection dogs, gun dogs, customs and quarantine dogs, sporting dogs, law enforcement dogs, search and rescue dogs etc.; the NDTF aims to provide a channel of communication for all dog trainers, resulting in ongoing education and mutual support; the federation acts as an adviser to government, (state, federal and local), industry and the private sector
